Brodosplit to expand cooperation with Russian clients?
Russian Ambassador to Croatia Anvar Azimov announced new possibilities for business cooperation between the two countries during his visit to the Brodosplit shipyard in Split. Namely, Brodosplit would become involved in the construction of ships within the project for restoration of the Russian commercial fleet, reports Poslovni.hr on April 1, 2016.
“Brodosplit is ready to participate in this big project”, Ambassador Azimov noted. The Russian Ambassador added in a statement that his country sees Brodosplit as a partner, that is, as one of the shipyards which certainly meets all the necessary criteria for collaboration.
In the last seventy years, the company says on its website, the shipyard has delivered more than 350 ships with a total capacity of over 10 million tons. Eighty percent of Brodosplit production is related to foreign clients. Many of these ships were awarded by the renowned international institutions. In the last twenty years, ten ships from Split were put on the list of the best projects in their respective categories.
Ambassador Azimov, accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Croatia Josip Eterović, also spoke with Brodosplit general manager Tomislav Debeljak and director of sales at the company Teuta Duletić. “They informed the Ambassador about the production capabilities of Brodosplit, presented some of the latest projects and development plans, and they toured the shipyard together to show some of the current activities”, Brodosplit said in a statement.
Debeljak referred to traditionally good relations between the shipyard and the companies from the Russian Federation, such as the recent visit, according to the statement, of the Russia’s largest state-owned company for trading in ships and ship equipment – Sudoexport. “Inside the Russian shipbuilding circles, Brodosplit is a well-known name, because in the period from 1965 to this day, Brodosplit has delivered 56 ships for Russian clients, so we can say that the success of our ships is also reflected in the quality of Russian companies”, Debeljak pointed out.
During his first visit to the city, Russian Ambassador Azimov has also met with Split Mayor Ivo Baldasar.
