Chest Airlines air taxi service from Tuzla launches charter flights between Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia
The Dutch press is all atwitter about Nick de Borst. The young pilot from the Netherlands who was in a search for a job, was travelling in Bosnia and Herzegovina, accompanying his father on a business trip. Discovering that it took over two hours to travel the 80km between Sarajevo and Tuzla, he thought “This would be so much faster in an aeroplane.” That was the epiphany behind the idea to launch an air taxi business – actually a charter company in B&H and the surrounding countries. And so with the help of several people from B&H who are acquaintances of his father, Chest Airlines was launched. They started operating with headquarters in Živinice. Here is an article in Dutch.
Nick de Borst became the CEO. In an interview with akta.ba reported in English in Sarajevo Times he said Chest is a small company which enables people to fly across the entire B&H, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, and other countries in the region.
The first plane they will use is a Cessna Cardinal 177RG. A four seater, the plane can carry the pilot, three passengers and up to 40kg of luggage at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour.
“Due to bad roads and high mountains, traveling by car, especially for businessmen, is not the best choice to reach the destination as fast as possible. Therefore, we figured out that the best and the fastest way of traveling would be by air. Traveling from Tuzla to Sarajevo by a car lasts for about two hours, but it takes only 30 minutes with a plane”, Borst explained how he came up with the idea of launching this business in B&H.
Borst stated that it is a huge difference, which represents a very good option for businessmen.
“The aim is to offer cost-effective traveling, a solution which helps you to organize your precious time, and all that is not expensive, and it is comfortable at the same time”, Borst pointed out.
Chest Airlines is a Charter company which enables its users to, in accordance with their wishes, make a reservation of the flight at the time and at the place which suits them the best. The reservations can simply be made via internet or phone.
Besides Air Taxi, this company also offers services of panoramic flights above B&H. This kind of flight usually lasts for thirty minutes, up to an hour, and the most popular panoramic flights which are to be offered will be above Sarajevo and Tuzla.
In addition to its own flights, Chest has partnered with Wizzair to resell Wizzair tickets and also to connect Tuzla to Wizzair Sarajevo flights.
