A specialized family company holds the throne in their sector

A record year is behind the family company Kudumija Trade from Bjelovar. Last year they had over 4 million Euro income, a 50% jump from 2014, with profit over 260 thousand Euro. The company deals with a specific business in which they lead the region – they manufacture, sell and rent tents, reports on June 14, 2106.

Brother and sister Dario and Jasnica Kudumija entered business over 20 years ago. Their original idea was to be in catering and retail, but in 1998 they started renting tents, an excellent choice.

“More and more clients kept coming and in 2003 we decided to manufacture the tents ourselves,” Dario recalls and since then business keeps going up. The retail business was sold to Lonia company from Kutina three years ago, focusing on tents and catering.

They currently employ 85 highly trained workers. He complains their biggest obstacle is disloyal competition hiring workers illegally. The company is present in almost all countries in the region, operating through local subcontractors. They are strongest in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia. Over 30% of income comes from export. They currently have available over 60,000 square metres of tent space, making them first in Southeastern Europe, Kudumija says.

As no one manufactures tarps in Croatia, they import them from Germany, while tailoring, stitching and metal construction is done in the Bjelovar plant. Most of the production is tents, the rest are tarps for trucks and sunshades. The Kudumijas are the only ones in the region with an automated laundry for washing and drying tents.

Most of the income comes from rentals, while almost all events and celebrations in Croatia . from smaller weddings to large fairs – use their tents. Additionally, they offer other equipment and services such as chairs, lighting, decorations and catering.

Many companies use their tents as storage space, as they are inflammable and can last, regardless of weather conditions, up to 10 years. As their greatest advantage over competition Dario Kudumija points out the quality of equipment and expertise of workers. They expect to continue increasing operations and number of employees in the current year.
