ZAGREB, May 5, 2018 – The management of Croatia Airlines (CA) has stated that it is open for constructive dialogue with the unions to the benefit of the national air transport company and its employees.
The management of the national flag carrier expressed regret at public statements recently made by the HSPP trade union members, and says that it will be more useful to try solve the problems facing CA inside the company. In this way, a negative impression about the company would have been avoided, the management says in a press release issued on Saturday.
The press release underscores that Croatia Airlines is not on the verge of collapse, as claimed by the HSPP trade union that recently issued a statement alleging that the entire system in the company would crash.
The management recalls that in 2017 Croatia Airlines generated a net profit of 25 million kuna, as against 6.6 million kuna in 2016. Operating revenue was 1.76 billion kuna, up 13% over 2016. The increase was due to the sale of slots at London’s Heathrow Airport. Expenditure rose by 10% to 1.72 billion kuna. Croatia Airlines flew 2.125 million passengers in 2017, which is 10% more than in 2016. It also transported 2,270 tonnes of goods and mail. Passenger occupancy was a record 74.4%.
The positive results continued in 2018, and in the first quarter of this year, Croatia Airlines operated 5,089 flights, with the number of passengers reaching 354,000, an increase of 8% compared with the first quarter of 2017.
The company noted that for the first time in its history, the passenger load factor (PLF) in the winter season was 70.6% and the weight load factor (WLF) was 67.6%, an increase of 5.8 percentage points.
In the first quarter of the year, Croatia Airlines had a fleet of 12 aircraft: six Airbuses, of which one Airbus A320 was on lease, and six Q400 aircraft were on lease. Like last year, the company will lease two more aircraft with a 100-seat capacity for the upcoming tourist season.
The management underscores that CA is ready for the upcoming tourist season with an expanded network of its destinations.
