ZAGREB, March 9, 2018 – Croatian Tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said at the ITB Berlin tourism fair that his proposal to set up an EU fund for tourism had already been supported by Bulgaria, Malta, Italy, Austria and Germany.
“We have discussed that initiative here at the ITB Berlin tourism trade fair with the chair of the Bundestag Committee on Tourism, Sebastian Munzenmaier, who said that he would have the proposal discussed by the committee. He liked the idea since a certain amount of money from that fund would be set aside for programmes and investments in tourism, notably in cases of floods or some other emergency situations,” said Cappelli.
The minister said that his ministry’s activities in the coming months would focus on remote markets such as China and Korea, with plans to open Croatian Tourism Board offices in Shanghai and Seoul by the end of the year.
Cappelli commended work done by Croatian destinations on promoting health tourism, which was given much attention at ITB Berlin. A special conference was held as part of the fair to present the activities of Kvarner Health, the health tourism cluster of that northern Adriatic region.
