Big rail contract for Croatian consortium.

A Croatian consortium which includes DIV, Dalekovod and Zagreb-Montaža has won the tender for what is currently the most valuable infrastructure project in Croatia, reports Poslovni.hr on October 22, 215. They will work on the reconstruction of existing track and the construction of the second track on the railway line Dugo Selo-Križevci. Hrvatske Željeznice Infrastruktura has selected them as the winning bidder of the public tender. Their offer was worth 1,239 billion kuna plus VAT. After a comprehensive analysis by HŽ Infrastruktura, their offer was found to be better than the other five bids.

“We are pleased with this decision of Hrvatske Željeznice Infrastruktura, since the project of reconstruction of the rail-tracks brings about the cooperation of Croatian companies on the construction of a major project. This is an important national project which is of great significance for Croatian public, which will create new jobs and give further boost to the Croatian economy. So far, similar jobs have bypassed Croatian companies, so the fact that the only domestic consortium has been selected as the best bidder and accomplished contributor to complex projects shows that our knowledge and experience can compete with all the major global players”, Tomislav Debeljak, owner of DIV, said about the decision.

Individually, the biggest share of the business is owned by Hidroelektra, which will be a subcontractor of construction works for Croatian consortium. Its part is worth as much as 469 million kuna, or 38 percent of the total value. General manager of Hidroelektra Ivan Kršić believes that the project will bring them good references for future international competitions.

“The Croatian consortium has already started discussing the possibility of applying to a tender which is currently underway in Macedonia, and is just slightly smaller than the estimated value of this project”, Ivan Kršić said.
