The biggest contribution to GDP growth in the second quarter was achieved by the growth of household final consumption expenditures, which rose by 3.8 percent.
The Croatian economy grew by 2.8 percent in the second quarter, as compared to the same period last year, faster than in the previous quarter, but less than what was expected, reports Poslovni.hr on August 30, 2017.
On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) published the first estimate according to which the GDP (gross domestic product) in the second quarter of 2017 rose by 2.8. percent, when compared to the same period last year. This is the 11th consecutive quarter which saw an increase of GDP, which grew faster than in the previous quarter, when the economy grew by 2.5 percent.
However, the GDP grew less than expected. Eight macroeconomists, who participated in the Hina poll, estimated on average that the economy grew by 3.0 percent year-on-year. Their growth estimates ranged from 2.7 to 3.4 percent.
The biggest contribution to GDP growth in the second quarter was achieved by the growth of household final consumption expenditures, which rose by 3.8 percent.The growth of domestic demand by 3.3 percentage points also positively contributed to GDP growth.
According to seasonally adjusted data, GDP in the second quarter increased 0.8 percent compared to the previous quarter, and 3.4 percent when compared to the second quarter of the last year.
