The products have been offered to towns in Croatia and neighbouring countries.
The well-known Croatian ICT company Omega Software has decided to expand its activities to the hardware portfolio in the so-called Smart Cities segment. Two years ago, it founded a new department under the Leda brand which produces LED lighting fixtures, reports Poslovni.hr on December 30, 2017.
Today, the entire company employs 90 people, with about 20 working for the Leda department. So far, the company has offered its lighting solutions to a number of municipalities and smaller towns in Croatia and neighbouring countries, and the next targets are the big cities in Croatia and the region. That is the reason why Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić recently visited the company. He wanted to see firsthand how the major part of the production and assembly is done in Zagreb.
His host, company’s CEO Goran Mihalić, said that his group was engaged in the development and integration of comprehensive ICT solutions based on its own innovative development platforms. “Our portfolio of solutions, products and services encompasses the development, implementation and integration of complex ICT solutions covering many areas of activity. They are applicable in the state administration and local self-government systems, public companies, private and service sectors, and energy,” said Mihalić.
He added that the Leda product range included a series of innovative lighting fixtures for interior and exterior use, from smart public lighting to long-life LED tubes. “The initiative for the intra-entrepreneurial project was launched three years ago, and the plant started operating two years ago, with just two production experts. Today, the project employs 20 workers in production, and we can produce 500 pieces of high-tech public lighting fixtures a day, which are capable of operating as part of smart cities linked by the Internet of Things (IoT) data network.”
“Our production-prototype plant in the Kamenarka neighbourhood includes a showroom, a manufacturing section, the main production line, an IOT laboratory and a fast prototyping facility. As a combination of local knowledge and cutting-edge technology, Leda’s products are designed, assembled, tested and certified in Zagreb, and sold throughout the region,” said Mihalić.

He emphasised that their goal was to expand the range by 2020 and acquire additional competencies that will be offered to the global market through the participation at the world’s largest smart lighting fair in Frankfurt.
Last year, Omega had revenues in the amount of 27 million kunas and profits of five million kunas.
