ZAGREB, July 4, 2018 – In the first half of 2018, 6.4 million tourists visited Croatia, generating 25.4 million overnights, up 10% and 12% respectively on the year, the Croatian National Tourist Board announced on Wednesday, adding that in June alone, arrivals went up four percent on the year, while overnights were the same.
Foreigners accounted for 5.5 million arrivals (+12%) and 22.2 million nights (+10%). Germans, Austrians, Slovenians, Britons and Poles generated the most overnights. Domestic tourists accounted for 10% more arrivals and 11% more overnights than in the first half of 2017.
Of the coastal counties, Istria registered the most overnight stays (7.4 million), followed by Split-Dalmatia (4.5 million) and Primorje-Gorski Kotar (4.3 million).
Continental Croatia, without Zagreb, registered 452,000 arrivals (+12%) and 905,000 overnights (+13%).
