A company from Kutina has won a contract in Serbia worth 6.2 million euros.

Turbomehanika from Kutina has won a 6.2 million euro worth contract for the modernisation of equipment at the ethylene plant of the HIP Petrochemical Industry in Pančevo in Serbia, reports Poslovni.hr on September 18, 2017.

The contract has been won as part of two tenders. “The first 2.5 million euro tender was for replacement of three turbo lines at the ethylene production plant. We sent our bid together with General Electric Energy (GEE), a company which we represent in the former Yugoslavia. The second tender, worth 3.7 million euros, includes the replacement of instruments, where we submitted a joint offer with GEE, Emerson and a community of local suppliers, Serbian companies we cooperate with,” said Ivan Majstrović, the managing director and owner of Turbomehanika.

“We have been working with Petrochemical Industry for 18 years. We have been present in Serbia since 1997, and we have participated in significant projects and have excellent results in the country. We also work together with the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) and with the major power plant Nikola Tesla,” said Majstorović.

The Serbian media has reported about allegations from other bidders which claim that Turbomehanika does not meet the tender conditions because it does not have references needed for the project and the required financial capacity. Reports say that the companies had filed an appeal with the Petrochemical Industry with a request for the tender committee to change its decision.

“Our offer was rated as technically the best and financially the most acceptable. We did everything we were asked to do, and we have submitted the bids together with major international companies. We have won so now our competition is complaining, but we all know that the commission consists of 15 serious and professional people,” said Majstrović.

The public procurement process was not required for this job because Petrochemical Industry is not among the companies which have to adhere to its rules. “Negotiations were tense, we were forced to lower our price, but I believe that eventually everything will be fine and that we will be involved in the realisation of this project,” added Majstrović.

Turbomehanika employs 35 people and last year it had 87.5 million kunas in revenues.
