April the 19th, 2024 – The elections are over and the battle is on to form a parliamentary majority, but business waits for no new government. Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Dalekovod have signed hefty new contracts.
As Jadranka Dozan/Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the battle for the formation of the parliamentary majority began on election night. Aside from HDZ’s leadership as a relative winner with 61 mandates won (with their partners), the bloc led by SDP’s Rijeke Pravde (Rivers of Justice) coalition, which won 42 mandates in the elections, didn’t give up on trying to solve various proverbial parliamentary crossword puzzles either.
Despite their significant difference in initial positions, political analysts are developing various scenarios, especially after the “invasion” of President Zoran Milanović on the field before the start of the official campaign. This gave rise to many potential outcomes in terms of possible post-election moves from Pantovčak.
is a new majority on the cards soon?
“Very soon you’ll find out with whom we’ll form a new majority. We spoke with some colleagues on the very night of the election, and we’re continuing those talks,” said Andrej Plenković on the morning after the elections. In the meantime, he went to an extraordinary summit of the leaders of the EU Member States, motivated primarily by the situation in the Middle East. In Brussels, he says, all his colleagues congratulated him on HDZ’s election results, and he announced his early return to Zagreb precisely because of the post-election negotiations.
Whether the new parliamentary majority will really be formed “very soon” and what that means concretely, can be read and heard about at length. The only certain thing we know that there are heated conversations taking place in various inter-party relations at the moment.
How and when the post-election game will end can only be said in terms of (high or low) probability. The business community fundamentally dislikes political uncertainty. Nevertheless, the disentanglement of the future parliamentary majority and the government has only just begun and business is going its own way. Yesterday, two large Croatian companies reported on signing some very valuable new contracts.
ericsson nikola tesla and dalekovod sign contracts worth millions
Dalekovod announced that it had received confirmation from Statnett, the Norwegian electricity transmission company, that after an evaluation process it was selected as the most favourable bidder for the construction of a new transmission line. That’s a huge project worth more than 14 million euros in total. Ericsson Nikola Tesla also reported that it had signed new contracts worth 4 million euros in the field of communication networks and digital transformation. In addition to one related to the continuation of the long-term cooperation with HT Mostar and solutions in the fixed and mobile network, there are also several contracts that have been signed here the domestic market.
Contracts with the Ministry of the Interior (mup)
“As part of the multi-year programme of cadastral surveys, a project of cadastral surveys on the island of Korčula was contracted with the State Geodetic Administration. New contracts were also signed with the Ministry of the Interior, and this refers to contracts in the field of digital transformation of public services, healthcare and the financial industry. It also refers to the delivery of communication equipment for business systems”, Ericsson Nikola Tesla announced.
If the process of political realignment drags on and on, in the foreseeable future, it could affect similar jobs related to public procurement. This is because the administration and implementation of tenders will slow down. The business sector also prefers a quick unfolding of the formation of the new government from this aspect – and for obvious reasons.
