Final Testing of New Zagreb Airport Terminal Begins

First test aircraft have arrived to the new terminal building.

Final tests of the new terminal of the “Franjo Tuđman” Airport in Zagreb have begun. The airport is currently testing parking of aircraft on the new apron and functioning of air bridges which will be used to load and unload passengers from the aircraft, announced on Thursday the Zagreb International Airport, reports Jutarnji List on December 22, 2016.

The press release states that the new terminal is undergoing testing of transport processes, which will last until its opening which is scheduled for March 2017.

This phase of testing, which was held from 20 to 22 December, was conducted by the airport and Croatia Airlines using Airbus 320 aircraft, under the supervision of ORAT (Operational Readiness & Airport Transfer) team composed of experts from the ADP Group, TAV and the Zagreb International Airport.

The purpose of the testing is to check the management of aircraft operations in contact with the new terminal and compliance with regulated safety standards and operational efficiency standards agreed between the national carrier Croatia Airlines and Zagreb International Airport.

According to the statement, the tests daily include more than 50 professionals: crew and ground staff of Croatia Airlines, security management team from the airport, airport protection services, coordinators of operational processes, and ground services for handling aircraft.

The tests are simulations of actual operating conditions in daylight and night hours.

The process of joint tests between the Zagreb International Airport and all stakeholders involved in the operational processes will continue at a steady pace all the way until the opening of the new passenger terminal, in order to ensure optimum preparation of all employees involved in operational processes.
