A major investment to be launched in Vukovar.
The Florian Group, which is part of the Italian lumber sector, already has five plants in Croatia and is now ready to invest 25 million euros in the special economic zone in Vukovar. It wants to build a factory of wood products and would employ about 500 workers. It is interested specifically in Vukovar due to its position – it is located near the Sava and the Danube rivers – as well as due to legal benefits which exists in the zone, reports tportal.hr on February 5, 2017.
“Everything is ready and we are waiting just for you to make a decision to move forward with the project”, said the owner of the Florian Group and its president Elvio Florian in Vukovar.
The international company last year had consolidated revenues of 116 million euros, while the Croatian part of the business had revenues of 46 million euros. In Croatia, they are one of the largest foreign investors in the wood sector, and currently employ more than 650 people. In Vukovar, they would produce ready-made floors made of solid wood panels, as well as electricity and heat.
“There are allegations that this investment would take away raw materials. On the contrary, we want to put into operation all sawmill capacities which exist and create a synergy model in order to fill the production capacity”, said Mario Vučko, a member of the board of directors of Florian Croatia in charge of production processes.
The deadline for the realization of the investment is two years from the signing of the contract, added Mayor of Vukovar Ivan Penava, who will guarantee to the investors that they will not have problems with the raw materials. He hopes that the government will eliminate all obstacles for this investment.
