Representatives of 25 French companies will visit Croatia next week.

At the beginning of next week, on 30 and 31 January, representatives of the French Employers Association (MEDEF), accompanied by a delegation of 25 French companies, will visit Zagreb, announced the French Embassy in Croatia, reports on January 28, 2017.

The delegation will include representatives of the construction sector, aeronautics, space technology, defense, energy, water treatment and waste disposal, transport, banking services, finance and consulting sector. The visit will be an occasion for the heads of French companies to meet with members of Croatian government and get more information about Croatia’s economic policies and reforms, the statement said.

The French businesspeople will hold meetings at the Croatian Employers Association (HUP) and the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), which will also organize a Croatian-French business forum on Monday. The aim is to present to the French companies Croatian business environment and investment opportunities in Croatia. The B2B meetings will try to directly connect 17 Croatian and 20 French companies, announced the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

“There are many opportunities to enhance bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the construction sector, the defense industry, energy, automotive industry, tourism and IT”, said the Chamber representatives. They pointed out that the total trade between the two countries in 2015 amounted to 700 million euros, which was 12 percent more compared to the previous year.

The French Embassy said in a statement that France exports to Croatia cars, pharmaceutical products, vessels, agricultural and food products, plastics, electrical and electronic equipment, and cosmetic products. Croatia exports to France automotive equipment and parts, agricultural machinery, freight railway cars, electrical equipment, textiles and leather, and wood products.

They also noted that, in the first eleven months of last year, Croatia was visited by 492,000 French tourists, who accounted for more than two million overnight stays, which was an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period in 2015.

As part of the economic cooperation between the two countries, the French-Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 2012.
