The showers use renewable energy on top of the construction, with an option of speakers
Smart showers from Osijek may conquer the Adriatic next year. This is what their inventors and constructors Matias Knežević (20), Kristijan Gorupić (21) and Niko Jeleč (21) hope for, young Osijek natives and economy students, who have spent hours and hours last year in the office of their company Pitaya Solutions working on the prototype of the first smart shower in the world, Jutarnji List wrote on July 20, 2016.
Despite trying to find a similar product anywhere on our planet, they failed to find one. It’s a product with great visual presentation, not just because of the dominating stainless steel, but the design that is also their creation.
“This is a multifunctional shower – Smart Shower LOOPS for outdoor use, using renewable energy, a photovoltaic cell of 300 W on top of the construction. It’s an innovative product, in many way better than showers currently on beaches, as it can be used for WiFi internet, with optional speakers.
The construction is of stainless steel, the floor from quality wood so it conforms to hygienic criteria, with a filter against limestone and other debris, the young group presented their product they are just beginning to offer to the market, a job for their somewhat older partner Mario Opačak (35). They say for their “baby” that it is not just a shower, but an installation that offers the complete beach content package. It has 4G internet, provided by MeshPoint employees led by Ivan Jelušić, known to the world as the inventor of smart sockets. The internet on their shower has a range of 500 metres and around 60 people can be connected to it with a great connection at the same time.
“The idea came to us in Mali Lošinj, when only 200 metres from a five star hotel with perfect services, we came across a shower that had an old, rusty pipe. Such discrepancy started an idea within us and a year ago we began working on it,” said Matias, Kristijan and Niko.
They currently have two showers, one of them in parts, the other assembled in the backyard of the company and waiting to be transferred to the high school playground in Osijek. The town of Osijek has recognised their idea so the town company bought it for 45 thousand Kuna. They gave their town a discount, as the usual price is 60 thousand, while they have already invested 150 thousand in development. They point out the buyer can even make money off it, as it has the option of installing a token machine, with ad spaces as well as ads on WiFi.
“We are currently developing smaller, cheaper models for family homes, pools. These will be architectural installations interesting for architects when planning. Showering is currently possible only with cold water, but we are also working on a system which would regulate temperature. Parts are produced by local companies, but are already writing an EU funds project to open their own production plant and provide jobs.
