Glamping Comes to Murter

The new luxury campsite has 20 designer mobile homes next to the beach.

The Rehut Glamping Camp in the Bay of Slanica on the island of Murter, in which 20 million kunas were invested, opened the doors of its 20 luxury mobile homes this weekend, and the owners of the camp have already announced new, even larger investments in the future, reports Poslovni.hr June 6, 2017.

The project has been initiated by two families, Jajaš and Turčinov, who already have well-developed tourism and construction operations on Murter. The luxury camp itself is the brainchild of Ena Jajaš and her brother Enio. These two families have also provided five of some 15 workers at the camp. Construction works, those already done and those which are planned for the future, are the responsibility of Ena’s husband Denis, who has personally planted almost all the olives trees, vines and other Mediterranean plants that adorn the camp.

“The project was quite complicated, and it took us a lot longer than we expected to come to this phase. It took us eight years to purchase the land from some 25 different owners. At the same time, we were struggling with the bureaucracy. The price ranged from 50 to almost 500 euros per square meter. The camp itself covers an area of 6,000 square meters, and another 4,000 square meters have been prepared for the second phase of investment which will increase the camp’s capacity to about 30 mobile homes. We will also construct two swimming pools and shopping facilities along the Slanica beach,” explains Denis Jajaš.

His wife Ena, who is the director of the camp, explains that the additional investments are expected to include the funds which the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development provides to female entrepreneurs. “When we decided to launch the increasingly popular glamping concept, we visited about a dozen luxury camps in Europe to see the idea for ourselves. With this experience, I was able to influence almost every detail of the design of our project,” says Ena Jajaš.

She adds that her desire is to adapt the homes for the use of disabled persons as soon as possible because there is keen interest in that market segment.

The mobile homes in the Rehut Glamping Camp are divided among three categories of luxury. The price of accommodation reaches up to 250 euros per night. The camp is located along one of the most beautiful beaches on Murter, Slanica, just 30 meters from the sea.
