If you have spare money to invest, tourism projects in Croatia are not a bad option.
Among the total of 105 investment projects in the newly published investment opportunities catalogue of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the most numerous are projects in tourism, worth 2.6 billion euros, and tourism infrastructure, which amount to about 1.5 billion euros, reports Poslovni List on April 14, 2017.
The most expensive project for which the Croatian Chamber of Economy is looking for investors is the Hrvatski San project (Croatian Dream), led by Vicenco Blagaić, who has not given up on the project which he has been pushing for a long time. He is more optimistic regarding the realization of the project after he resolved a dispute with Erste Bank last year. The catalogue states that the land needed for the project has been acquired and that, with the spatial planning documents already approved, it is the tourism project closest to the implementation. The only thing missing are investors ready to invest 920 million euros in the wider Dubrovnik area.
The second project is Pašman Riviera which is valued at about 430 million euros and includes the construction of a tourist resort with 4,000 beds and with up to seven stars, together with accompanying facilities on land and sea, including even a bridge between the mainland and the island of Pašman. The project leader is the municipality of Pašman, and it seems that some investors might have appeared, given that an international tender to find investors should be published soon.
The largest number of projects is located in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, which is looking for investors in the Rijeka Airport, the Brajdica Marina, and a complex which will include the Platak Sports Centre, the Grobnik Racing Track and the Dubina Golf Course. The construction of the Vrbovsko Ski Centre is also planned, and the project is valued at over half a billion euros.
The Sveti Martin Spas is looking for investors which would invest 32 million euros in the Spa & Sport Resort Sveti Martin. They point out that the investment is necessary in order to keep with the competition which continuously invests in innovations and improvements of the facilities. Their aim is to attract visitors not only from the region and Europe, but also people from the Middle East and Russia. The plan is to build a lifestyle hotel, a camping site, a wellness centre, a heated football pitch, and also to construct infrastructure which will bring energy independence, with thermal wells and solar panels.
In addition to the Marlera golf resort project, which was first announced 18 years ago and for whose implementation former football player Dražen Ladić needs 100 million euros, Istria is seeking investors for the Terra Istriana project worth 200 million euros. At a location near Umag, it provides for the construction of a tourist resort with 2,270 beds and additional facilities, such as a marina with up to 199 berths which would accommodate mega yachts. The main feature of the Terra Istriana project in a lake, which will be a part of the complex together with an agricultural economic zone.
