ZAGREB, July 18, 2018 – Economy Minister Darko Horvat said on Wednesday said that investments started rising and that a careful selection of investors could help create 10,000-15,000 jobs over the next several years.

While coming to a session of the inner cabinet in Zagreb on Wednesday, Horvat said that in the last two or three months Croatia opened its doors to investments and they started coming. The minister went on to say that Croatia should not allow the arrival of “all sorts of” investments, and it should carefully choose them and open jobs suitable for those who are thinking of leaving Croatia.

In response to a reporter’s remark that “it is not like the investors are standing in a line” waiting to invest in Croatia, Horvat said that he would dare to say that currently there was great interest in investing in Croatia. “You will see what will happen in that field in the next two or three months,” he said.

Asked about benefits for Croatia from the success of the national football squad that became the world vice-champions at the FIFA contest in Russia, the minister said that thanks to the footballers, everybody in the word can know where Croatia is located.
