A great season for the Croatian camping industry.
At the Illyria complex in Biograd, deputy tourism minister Daglas Koraca opened the 9th Congress of Croatian Camping, the largest and the most successful such gathering ever held in Croatia and one of the largest such gatherings this year in Europe, reports Zadarski List on October 29, 2015.
Koraca congratulated everybody on the good season, reminding the participants that the Tourism Development Strategy to 2020 envisages further development of the camps, raising the category of camps and the introduction of additional quality standards for services. He introduced the incentives that the Ministry is offering, as well as the wish of the Ministry for the camping to be developed in the inland Croatia as well.
On behalf of the organizers, the participants were greeted by the director of the Zadar County Tourist Board Mihaela Kadija, who discussed the important role of local camps in the top ranks of Croatian camping. “In our area, the camping sector, with 20 percent of overnight stays, is at the second place behind the private sector. This year, we have recorded an increase of six percent, to two million overnight stays in camps. We also have a large number of prominent and award-winning camps, especially Zaton, Biograd, Starigrad, Pag, Pakoštane, Sv. Filip i Jakov.
During the two days of the congress, dozens of presentations were held, including the analyses of the Tourism Institute about guest satisfaction, new trends, marketing, ecology and sustainability, guests with disabilities, etc. At the Illyria complex in Biograd, the participants and guests were introduced to 20 of the latest models of camping cottages, as well as the latest camping trend – “glamping”, luxury tents with amazing equipment which will compete with campers.
In Ilirija’s luxury boat Nada, the participants visited Kornati Island and Telašćica and toured the area of the Biograd Riviera. During the two days, the weather was favourable for campers, as it has been for this whole tourist season.
