Zagreb mayor encouraging investment from France.
Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandić visited Paris yesterday where he held a meeting with a group of French investors and entrepreneurs. He invited them to invest their money in some of the projects which the City of Zagreb is working on. Bandić was invited to come to Paris by Gerard Wolf, the president of MEDEF International Working Group, an organization which represents the French Employers’ Association and its 800,000 member companies around the world, reports Vecernji List on February 3, 2016.
The presentation at the Pavillon Kleber was attended by representatives of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Digital Sector, as well as representatives from some of the largest French companies such as EDF, Suez, Vinci, and Itron.
In the discussion which followed the presentation, the investors have expressed their interest for several projects: the development of the Zagreb airport, convention centre, high-speed rail line to the airport, modernization of public lighting system, and the special emphasis was put on the possibility of financing the projects from EU funds. Many participants who are already involved in various businesses in Zagreb praised the investment climate in the city.
“We hope that we will implement planned projects through various public-private partnership initiatives. By the implementation of projects through this model we want to get the know-how and the innovative spirit of the private sector, which would ultimately improve the quality of the public services provided in the city, which is the main goal of our city administration”, said Bandić.
In addition to the Mayor, Zagreb development projects were presented by general manager of Zagreb Holding Ana Stojić Deban, as well as by heads of city offices for economy, strategic planning, construction and European Union programs and projects.
After the presentation, Mayor Bandić held individual meetings with representatives of French companies. In the afternoon, he met with representatives of Croatian Diaspora living in France.
