fDi Magazine, a specialist division of the Financial Times Ltd., has named Medimurje County as one of the Top 10 Small European Regions of the Future 2018/19.
The editor-in-chief of fDi Magazine, Courtney Fingar, has presented an award to Medimurje County Prefect Matija Posavec in Cannes in France. The award was given by the fDi magazine to Međimurje as one of top ten regions for attracting investments in Europe. This was the second Financial Times award to the county. In 2010, the daily ranked it the third best in the category of small European regions according to the strategy for promoting foreign direct investments, reports lokalni.hr on March 14, 2018.
The delegation of the Međimurje County was present in Cannes, and it included, in addition to the prefect, Sandra Polanec Marinović, the Head of the Regional Economic Development Agency REDEA; Jako Horvat, the Head of the RADEA’s Department for Economic Activities; Darko Radanović, the Head of the County’s Economic Office; and Goran Gotal, prefect’s chief of staff.
Međimurje was presented as an attractive business destination that brings into Croatia the European values and way of doing business, offers education and good-quality human potential, innovations and responsibility, with the motto: Međimurje – where World’s finest meet Croatia’s finest.
“This is one of the most prestigious rankings of European regions. It is completely independent and highly objective. It is a well-known fact that entrepreneurs and investors pay great attention to this award” said the fDi Magazine editor-in-chief.
Posavec noted that this was another acknowledgement that Međimurje was doing a good job, which is a fact that has been recognised in the European business circles. “We now have the responsibility to continue with positive economic results and to improve them further. This award is also an incentive to focus even more on our workers, their dignity and an effort to make the highly productive and motivated workers of Međimurje better paid for their work,” said Posavec, who held a working meeting with Mayor of Maribor Andrej Fištravec, and also met famous boxer Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kiev. They discussed joint cooperation between the regions. Međimurje has been nurturing good business and economic relations with the Ukrainian region of Rivne Oblasti for many years.
