ZAGREB, August 2, 2018 – A microbrewery in the eastern town of Vukovar, which will make Vukovar Beer, was inaugurated in the Vukovar Business Zone on Wednesday.
The Zagrebačka Pivovara brewery invested 11 million kuna in the plant via its K Pivovari company.
Five people will be employed in the microbrewery, Zagrebačka Pivovara board chairman Marko Njavro said.
The microbrewery’s capacity is 5,000 hectolitres annually but expansion and additional hiring are possible, he added.
Njavro recalled that Vukovar Beer, which is not exported yet, was named Croatia’s best beer in 2010.
About 3.3 million hectolitres of beer is placed on the Croatian market and craft beer accounts for only 1.4% of the market, as against 15-20% in Western Europe or the Czech Republic, he said.
