More International Retail Chains in Istria

Total Croatia News

Most of the international supermarket and other kinds of international chains that have arrived in Croatia during the past two decades are already present in Istria too. The few ones that haven’t had their franchises opened on the heart-shaped peninsula are going to arrive by the end of this month, when Istria is also going to get its first mall-like shopping centre as part of the new Interspar centre which is getting its finishing touches these days. Hurrah!

Istrians and their guest will no longer have to make a trip to Rijeka through the Učka Tunnel or to Slovenian Koper to get their hands on those comfy C&A pyjamas, the New Yorker franchise is going to make teens happy and mommy and daddy will be able to update their functional jacket and running tights collection at the local Hervis store.

In other recent chain store news on the Istrian peninsula, the small (former) fishers town on the southern tip of the peninsula, Medulin, is going to get its own Lidl store, much to the delight of the local Plodine store opponents (Plodine-Medulin charges more on most products than Plodine-Pula) and German camping, apartment and villa-with-pool tourists, who will now feel even more at home at one of Croatia’s Top 5 tourist destinations. The new Lidl in Medulin is set to open right next to Plodine and just in time for the next tourist season, according to today’s, August 9, 2016 Glas Istre newspaper.

The new Interspar, C&A, New Yorker, Hervis and a host of other stores will be located some 200 metres to the right of the Billa supermarket marked in below map.
