July the 19th, 2025 – A brand new Bjelovar shopping centre is set to be constructed as part of a significant investment totalling 8.5 million euros.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, just over an hour from Zagreb lies a city that is developing rather remarkably every day. Bjelovar is set to get a new, large shopping centre, and next year, a spa will also open up in the area. According to current announcements, the new Bjelovar shopping centre will be constructed at the end of the South Business Zone, more specifically on Pakračka Street. It will be by far the largest shopping complex in the city, three times larger than the existing Stop & Shop centre, according to Bjelovar.live.
The investor is a company owned by an Austrian entrepreneur, and about one month ago, an application was submitted to the City of Bjelovar for a building permit. The area of the land on which the centre will be built spans 40,271 square metres, while the building itself will occupy about 12,000 square metres. The future Bjelovar shopping centre plans to have 18 business premises, of which 15 will be shops and 3 will be catering and hospitality facilities. There will also be 445 parking spaces available to shoppers, with the total estimated value of the investment standing at a hefty 8.5 million euros.
The Deputy Mayor of Bjelovar, Igor Brajdić, emphasised the importance of this investment for the continental Croatian city that just keeps on impressing.
“It’s now become very obvious that more and more people are returning to, or choosing to move to Bjelovar. The city is strengthening economically, which is something that is being noticed by all. We’re currently working on forming a new business zone in Veliki Korenovo, where factories will soon be constructed. This shopping centre is therefore a very welcome move. I believe that it will mean a lot to the people of Bjelovar because they will no longer have to go to Zagreb so often just to shop. Bjelovar is now attracting investors, and this is just another proof of that. I hope that we’ll soon also have a similar project on Zagrebačka cesta,” concluded Deputy Mayor Brajdić.
