ZAGREB, September 9, 2018 – A total of 47,167 new cars were sold in Croatia in the first eight months of 2018, up 21.8% over the same period in 2017 when 38,709 vehicles were sold, according to the Promocija Plus marketing agency.
Some 3,200 units were sold in August alone, a year-on-year increase of 31.5%.
In January-August 2018, the best-selling car brand was Volkswagen (VW), with 7,073 vehicles sold and a share in total sales of 15%. It was followed by Renault (4,655 vehicles sold and a share of 9.9%) and Opel (4,512 vehicles sold and a share of 9.6%).
The best-selling car model was the Skoda Octavia, with 2,464 units sold, ahead of the Renault Clio (2,249), the VW Polo (1,712), the VW Golf (1,677) and the Opel Astra (1,420).
Of the cars sold, 26,558 or 56.3% use petrol, 19,579 or 41.5% are fuelled by diesel, 41 are electric cars and 559 hybrids.
