November the 14th, 2023 – Podravka has been awarded for making the greatest progress in terms of doing sustainable business.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the well known domestic company Podravka has received another award for its sustainable business. This time, the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development (HR PSOR) recognised the efforts and positive business practices of Podravka as an enterprise and awarded it in the category of large companies for the greatest progress having been made in sustainable business for this year. Since the competition is the biggest in the category of large companies, the aforementioned progress is even more significant.

Podravka is aware of its economic importance and responsibility

Nataša Mikuš Žigman, director of the Business Sustainability and Green Transformation sector, accepted the award on behalf of Podravka: “Podravka is aware of its economic importance and responsibility for the environment and community. Bearing in mind its role, Podravka always strives for excellence and to achieve the highest business standards in all areas. That’s why this year it adopted the Sustainable Business Strategy until 2030. Receiving the award in the category of large companies for the greatest progress made in terms of sustainable business is an indication of how deeply Podravka understands its position. With its operations and consistency in the implementation of the adopted Strategy, it truly contributes to betterment, which the community obviously recognises. The strong competition in the aforementioned category adds to the importance of the received award and is a strong incentive for the company to achieve even better results in the field of sustainability in the future”.

The Croatian sustainability index

HR PSOR is otherwise the holder of the Croatian Sustainability Index – HRIO, within which prizes are awarded for the implementation of various sustainable practices. HRIO consists of six chapters and assesses six areas: sustainable corporate governance, working environment, environmental management, community relations, human and children’s rights. Progress and operations in the aforementioned areas are evaluated by a six-member jury by scoring the submitted data and the results achieved in the current year.

Podravka continuously fills out the HRIO questionnaire, and the improvements in business, mainly resulting from the implementation of the adopted Sustainable Business Strategy until 2030, were reflected in the achieved results. Those were all measured and evaluated. Podravka’s Sustainable Business Strategy encompasses the care and provision of a clean environment, healthy nutrition, care for employees and the community, and responsible corporate management. Podravka’s plan is to achieve the set goals by 2030. The award received is an additional incentive to continue engaging in sustainable business and work to achieve the goals of the Strategy. It’s also confirmation that Podravka’s good business practices have been recognised.
