Split Airport is investing 450 million kuna
Split Airport has received all necessary permits from the Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning on January 14, 2016 for its planned reconstruction and expansion of existing passengers’ terminal. This project is worth 450 million kuna and it could commence even before summer if everything goes according to plan (fingers crossed).
According to Split Airport management, they are waiting for the permit to become valid, a formal process which usually takes about a month. They are currently busy finalising all cost estimates after which a public tender for the main contractor will be published. It there are no appeals after the final selection process, contract will be signed before summer and construction can commence immediately, otherwise, the whole process could be prolonged for a few more months.
Reconstruction and expansion of passengers’ terminal will add 34 500 square metres to the existing terminal, increasing its annual capacity to 3,5 million passengers. Additional space means new facilities, additional restrooms, restaurants, shops and auxiliary services as well as additional parking for cars and buses.
