State Funding for Energy Efficient Home Renovations

Total Croatia News

This is an opportunity not to be missed.

Energy efficiency upgrades of family houses (facades, roofs, windows, etc) within the program led by the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency should continue this year, and it is planned the program will last until 2020. The Fund does not know yet when the call will be announced, but expects it to happen in the second half of the year. They also do not have the financial plan for this year, as the parliament has yet to adopt the budget for 2016, reports tportal.hr on March 15, 2016.

One novelty is that the money for the program will be withdrawn from the European funds, and thus the current co-funding terms should be modified to meet the EU financing requirements. The Fund said this will not affect the procedure for the citizens. It will remain similar to the one as last year.

In 2015, the incentives were available for houses with the gross floor area less than 600 square metres or a maximum of three residential units, and with more than 50 percent of the area intended for residential living. The state has co-funded the replacement of external carpentry, renovation of roofs, facades and ceilings and the installation of condensing gas-boilers or systems for the use of renewable energy sources (collectors, biomass boilers, etc.).

After the public call closed on July 10, 2015, the Fund had received about 12,300 requests for co-funding of the family houses. Around 9,350 of them were accepted. The total cost of the reconstruction for these houses was over 833 million kuna, and the Fund secured about half a billion kuna in incentives.

So far, the Fund has paid incentives for about 3,100 houses, and completed more than 30 percent of the projects. Based on the submitted documents, citizens received over 145 million kuna.

It is important to point out that the cost of hiring an energy assessors is covered entirely.
