Young Split researchers to get valuable international experience.
“Euraxess on Wheels”, an event with the aim of providing information on Euraxess network, took place on Monday in front of the University Library in Split. The program is focused on young researchers in the European Union who have an opportunity to gain experience by working on projects abroad. Interested students had the opportunity to visit information desks and to attend workshops, presentations and discussions at the University Library, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on October 12, 2015.
Alen Soldo, the vice-rector for international cooperation and science of the University of Split, explained what makes this program so special. “Euraxess is unlike Erasmus, since it is directed primarily to researchers working on projects, and not just to professors and students. It is important for various researchers at our university to go abroad for a certain period and gain experience which they will use later for new research and to achieve even better results”, Soldo explained.
The University of Split is the only Croatian university which has been given the opportunity to be one of the 34 locations in 16 countries which the Euraxess bus will visit during this year’s tour.
Aleksandra Banić, head of the EU Projects Office, said they were very proud that they have been given this opportunity. “Our goal is to inform people with university diplomas from a range of sectors, from biotechnical sector to social sciences. In addition to general information on all the services we offer, we also give very specific advice on our current activities”, Banić said.
Josip and Stipan, first year students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, were among the students who wanted to hear more about the project and its possibilities. The two of them took the opportunity to be photographed in order to enhance their resumes and apply to the Euraxess Jobs Portal, where hundreds of jobs at European research institutions are offered daily.
“We have seen that it is a program which is connected with studying and working abroad, so we wanted to check what was going on. It is good to be informed, and if we get a better opportunity to work abroad, of course we would take it”, concluded the students.
