Zagreb Airport Welcomes Millionth Passenger

Total Croatia News

The milestone has been reached earlier than ever before.

Zagreb’s Franjo Tuđman International Airport has recorded its millionth passenger this year, and the milestone was reached earlier than ever before in the history of the Zagreb Airport and 13 days earlier than last year, reports Poslovni.hr on May 17, 2018.

The lucky passenger was Višnja Mrazovac who was travelling on a direct Emirates flight from Zagreb to Dubai. “The system registered the millionth passengers this year on the Dubai flight, which is interesting since Emirates has significantly contributed to the increase in traffic which the Zagreb Airport has continuously recorded since the opening of the new passenger terminal,” said Huseyin Bahadir Bedir, a member of the Management Board of the Zagreb International Airport, adding that since the opening of the new terminal, the airport had broken records in passenger and freight traffic and in the number of new airline companies, flights and destinations, and has achieved excellent results in passenger satisfaction surveys.

“Emirates is extremely pleased with the demand from Croatian passengers since it launched the Zagreb-Dubai direct flights in June last year. During this period, Croats have travelled to Dubai and have used our network of destinations for further trips to Asia, Australia and Africa,” said Martin Gross, the Emirates area manager for Croatia. “Our support to the airport on this special occasion reflects our further commitment to the Croatian market.”

“I did not really expect this; I am shocked. I read yesterday that the millionth passenger was expected to be recorded, but I could not even dream that I would be that passenger. We often travel with Emirates, and we can hardly wait to use the tickets which we have received as a gift,” said Višnja Mrazovac, the millionth traveller this year. Mrazovac and her husband were travelling via Dubai to Delhi in India to visit their son who works there. They have received a voucher for an airport’s duty-free shop and two return tickets to Dubai. The gifts were presented by Huseyin Bahadir Bedir and Predrag Popović, the Emirates sales director for Croatia and Slovenia.

In the segment of passenger traffic, since the opening of the new passenger terminal, the Zagreb Airport has recorded a continuous growth and the trend is continuing in 2018 as well, with cumulative increase of 11% in passenger traffic. These improvements in numbers are accompanied by good results of passenger satisfaction surveys related to the airport services.

In the global assessment of airport service quality conducted by the Airport Council International, the Zagreb Airport has won the award in the category of airports with the most substantial improvement in the quality of service – the Most Improved Airport in Europe award.
