April the 25th, 2025 – Great news for Czech lovers of Croatia as Croatia Airlines introduces a new Zagreb-Prague connection, which is set to run seasonally.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) and Croatia Airlines recently held a joint presentation on flights offered by the Croatian national airline in Prague. Representatives of more than 50 Czech travel agencies and tour operators were addressed by Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Mato Radić, Head of Sales Market of Croatia Airlines for Central Europe, and Miodrag Mlačić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board’s Representative Office for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

croatia is among the favourites of czech tourists

Kristjan Staničić presented news and trends currently going on within the scope of Croatian tourism, while particularly emphasising the importance of the Czech market for its overall results.

“Croatia is traditionally among the most popular foreign destinations for Czech travel enthusiasts. The Czech Republic is among the top 5 markets from which Croatian tourism generates the largest number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays. This was the case last year, when Czechs generated more than 5 million overnight stays across Croatia, and this year we want to maintain that level of traffic. However, that isn’t going to be easy, the global travel sector is facing numerous challenges, and since we don’t want to leave anything to chance, our goal is to further bring the Croatian tourist offer and news closer to our partners. We also want to bring it closer to all potential guests who, I’m sure, will choose Croatian destinations once again in large numbers,” said Staničić.

On this occasion, Croatia Airlines presented their new seasonal Zagreb-Prague connection, which was introduced in this year’s summer flight schedule. Direct international flights operating along this route are planned three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from the beginning of July to the end of October this year.

“Croatia Airlines extremely pleased to have a direct Zagreb-Prague connection on offer. These flights should be operated with new Airbus A220 aircraft, with which we’re successfully renewing the existing fleet. We expect very good interest and occupancy in both directions, in this way, we’ll facilitate both tourist and business arrivals, and we’ve also created packages so that tickets on this route can be found for a price of 129 euros. In addition to this new line, we’ll also operate seasonal Split-Prague and Dubrovnik-Prague flights during the season,” emphasised Radić.

He added that during this year’s summer tourist season, Croatia Airlines will directly connect Zagreb Airport with 23 international destinations, while it will connect Croatia with a total of 30 destinations.

prices are a leading factor for czech tourists

The fact that travelling Czechs will take prices into account the most when choosing trips and destinations this year was confirmed by Miodrag Mlačić from the HTZ Representative Office.

“Last year’s price increase in Croatian tourism didn’t go unnoticed on the Czech market. Although Croatia is still perceived as a beautiful, safe and attractive tourist destination, tourism stakeholders must be careful when it comes to pricing,” warned Mlačić, adding that first-minute reservations went well, but that for the bigger picture it’s necessary to wait for last-minute offers.

The event in the centre of Prague in which the new Croatia Airlines Zagreb-Prague connection was presented was hosted by Czech journalist and CNN Prime News host Alex Hrdinová.

It’s worth noting that last year, Czech tourists recorded the most overnight stays in Split-Dalmatia County (1.3 million overnight stays), Istria (1.1 million overnight stays) and Zadar County (931 thousand overnight stays). When looking at things on a destination by destination, the most Czech arrivals and overnight stays were realised Umag, Vir, Medulin, Biograd na Moru and Poreč.

When looking at the type of accommodation chosen, the most overnight stays were registered in household facilities (2.6 million overnight stays), campsites (895 thousand overnight stays) and hotels (795 thousand overnight stays)
