January the 8th, 2025 – Croatia has been aiming to become a year-round destination for years now, but has it succeeded? According to eVisitor’s recorded figures – yes.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, according to the eVisitor system data, which includes tourist traffic generated in commercial and non-commercial facilities and nautical charter, Croatia recorded more than 21.3 million arrivals and over 108.7 million overnight stays in 2024. That massive sum represents a 4 percent increase in arrivals and 1 percent in overnight stays compared to 2023.

Of these, 103.3 million overnight stays were of course recorded in the Adriatic part of the country. Coastal Croatia therefore saw an increase of 1 percent compared to 2023. Encouragingly, over 2.7 million overnight stays were recorded in the continental part of the country, which represents a 5 percent increase.

In addition, 2.7 million overnight stays were also recorded in the City of Zagreb, which represents a 6 percent increase compared to 2023 for the bustling capital. It seems that after many years of trying to extend the season and place more emphasis on the pre- and post-season, Croatia has tentatively transformed into a year-round destination.

“We can definitely be very satisfied with all the tourism results achieved in 2024. That includes financial indicators, because by all parameters we’ve achieved another record year. What makes us particularly happy is that we achieved the most significant growth in the pre- and post-season, thus confirming that Croatia is indeed finally becoming a year-round tourism destination.

As such, in the pre-season (which is between January the 1st and May the 31st), Croatia achieved 11 percent more arrivals and 12.5 percent more overnight stays. From October the 1st to December the 31st, the country achieved 10.3 percent more arrivals and 9.7 percent more overnight stays,” revealed the Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina. He then emphasised that in 2025, a special focus of tourists when choosing a holiday destination will be the price-quality ratio, something that Croatia needs to work on – and quickly.
