March the 15th, 2025 – A brand new Croatian gas pipeline worth 140 million euros has now been put into function in Bosiljevo not far from Karlovac.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the completion of construction works on a brand new Croatian gas pipeline worth 140 million euros was officially marked in Bosiljevo yesterday. The new Zlobin-Bosiljevo gas pipeline was put into trial operation, marking the start of work on the Zabok-Lučko gas pipeline.

These are complex projects within the gas transport system and are part of a wider project called “Supporting infrastructure for the strategic investment project LNG terminal”.

The new Croatian gas pipeline is worth 140 million euros and it will enable an increase in the capacity of PLINACRO’s transport system from the LNG terminal from 2.9 to 3.4 billion cubic metres of gas.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković officially declared the works complete this week and emphasised that the goal of this and other announced projects on the gas network is to ensure Croatia’s energy independence and diversify global routes.

He also said that further construction of the gas pipeline will significantly increase export opportunities to surrounding markets, making Croatia an energy hub for Southeastern and Central Europe, according to a report from Novi List.

This new Croatian gas pipeline marks a very concrete step forward in the wake of multiple European countries pulling away from Russia and Russian gas. Croatia hopes to transform into a key regional energy hub and have yet another trump card under its already enviable belt.
