It seems that wherever I go, the island of Hvar is not far behind…
The opening night of the fabulous Spancirfest 2016 last night in Varazdin, a really innovative idea with more than 400 acts performing all over the streets of the gorgeous old town over the next ten days, and the opening night attracted quite a crowd, including a vist from President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic.
I will save the story of how I fell over on the grass bank at the crucial paparazzi moment – and was helped to my feet by one of her suited minders – for another time.
We caught up later at Vinski Grad (Wine Town) in the heart of the festival, where some of Croatia’s top wines were on display. With some of the finest wines on offer from Istria, Slavonia, Medjimurje and Dalmatia, I was curious to see which wine would be served to the President.
There is no wine quite like a Hvar wine, and out came the Zlatan Otok Posip.
Great choice!
