croatian tourism 15 billion euros

April the 4th, 2026 – Croatian tourism brought in 15 billion and 298 million euros in 2025, but with inflation and pricing still a serious issue, the country can’t afford to sit back and relax this summer.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Katarina Kusec writes, a hypnotically beautiful sea, plenty of sunshine, a perfect position on the map and one of the most praised Advents in all of Europe – all this is Croatia even outside the heart of the tourist season. Croatia was, rather unsurprisingly, one of the most sought-after destinations even during the fourth (traditionally rather quiet) quarter of 2025.

Croatian tourism brought in one billion and 886 million euros from foreign revenue at the very end of 2025 alone. That encouraging figure represents an increase of 3.8% compared to the same period back in 2024, or 69.5 million euros more.

constant increases for croatian tourism

Moreover, according to data from the Croatian National Bank (CNB), Croatian tourism brought in a total of 15 billion and 298 million euros from foreign tourist revenues throughout 2025. That enormous sum represents growth of 2% compared to the same period back in 2024. In other words, an increase of 292.5 million euros was generated. The Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina is also more than satisfied with such massive figures.

“Along with record tourist arrivals and overnight stays, record revenues were also achieved, which clearly confirms that Croatian tourism is continuing to grow, but now in a much more thoughtful, strategic and long-term sustainable manner.” He also looked back at the beginning of this year, which was marked by geopolitical tensions that shook the world – again.

“Positive trends have continued so far in 2026. However, in the circumstances of current global challenges and uncertainty, it’s unwise to make precise forecasts about the further course of the tourist year. It’s realistic to expect that this year, more than before, travel decisions will be made at the last minute, because the vast majority of guests will decide within a week or two before their trip, which further emphasises the importance of our competitiveness on the international market,” he concluded, adding that this is why it is crucial to maintain a high level of responsibility in shaping Croatia’s overall tourist offer and pricing policy. He believes that these elements will be crucial for maintaining stability and continuing positive trends.

eurostat also confirms croatia’s excellent position

Some Eurostat data also confirms Croatia’s position on the Olympus of European tourism. Between October and December 2025, guests realised 172.3 million nights in short-term rental accommodation across the entire European Union, booked via Airbnb, Booking or Expedia, and the most popular in this segment was the Croatian Adriatic with 27.7 million overnight stays recorded.

In addition to the glorious coastline and islands, people also opted to go to Andalusia (19.5 million) in Spain and part of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (16.9 million) in France for short-term rental accommodation booked via online platforms in the last quarter of 2025.

Interestingly, the 20 most popular tourist regions of all were located in just six EU countries: France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal and of course – Croatia.
