August the 16th, 2025 – There were 73,000 people registered as unemployed at the end of July this year, meaning that the Croatian unemployment rate is currently lower than it was in 2024.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, back at the end of July this year, there were 73,183 unemployed people registered with the Croatian Employment Service (CES), which is 16.6 percent or 14,615 fewer people than were registered back in July 2024, according to CES data. It represents a positive view of the Croatian unemployment rate, though its seasonal character appears to have remained the same.
Compared to the month of June, the number of unemployed people increased by 4.5 percent or 3,147 people. According to daily CES data, 74,106 unemployed people are currently registered with the agency, and 14,864 job vacancies have been advertised.
During July this year, 13,726 people were newly registered with the unemployment register, which is 11.5 percent fewer than in July last year. Of these individuals, 9,400 people or 68.5 percent came directly from previous employment. Last month, 2,390 people were also registered having come from full-time education (17.4 percent) and 1,936 people from economic inactivity (14.1 percent) also entered the unemployment register.
According to the Employment Service, 10,579 people left the unemployment register, which is 15.7 percent less than in July 2024. Of these, 6,636 people were employed, 86.4 percent of them on the basis of employment and 13.6 percent on the basis of other business activities aside from regular employment.
Registered employment on the basis of employment was most often realised in wholesale and retail trade, followed by accommodation, food preparation and service, and the processing industry.
