January the 4th, 2026 – Dubrovnik-Neretva County will provide 1000 euros for each newborn born on or after January the 1st, 2026.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Zrinka Gabelica Toplek writes, Dubrovnik-Neretva County recently introduced a gift payment of 1,000 euros for every newborn on the first day of 2026. As things currently stand, one million euros have been provided in the budget for the move.
“Every newborn child is of the greatest value in our community. With this measure, we want to specifically help families, send a clear message of support for young parents, and contribute to creating a more positive demographic environment across all of Dubrovnik-Neretva County,” said Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Blaž Pezo.
The measure applies to all babies born on or after the 1st of January 2026, whose families submit a timely application and meet the prescribed conditions.
One of the parents can exercise the right to financial assistance if they’re a Croatian citizen and has had continuous legal residence in Dubrovnik-Neretva County for at least two years on the day of the child’s birth. The other parent must have their registered residence or permanent residence in the same county on the day of the child’s birth.
Another condition is that the newborn child has a registered residence in Dubrovnik-Neretva County at the time of the making of said application and that neither parent has a record of temporary departure from Croatia at the time of the application. The application for financial assistance must also be submitted in full within three months of the child’s birth.
