February the 1st, 2026 – The EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) invested a massive 287 million euros in the Croatian private sector in 2025, with big plans for this year too.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) enjoyed yet another successful year in Croatia. The EBRD invested a total of 287.4 million euros in seventeen projects, with all of the aforementioned financing directed to the Croatian private sector. The EBRD’s activities throughout 2025 reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Croatia’s overall economic development, competitiveness and the ongoing green transition, with strong support for what are deemed to be crucial reforms.

Throughout 2025, almost 80% of all investments were directed towards the corporate sector, covering a wide range of activities – from food production and trade to renewable energy sources. Among the most important projects are the equity investment of 16.7 million euros in IE-Energy Projekt d.d. for the first major battery energy storage project in Croatia, a 50 million euro loan paid out to BMT Alutech Solutions for the construction of a new automotive factory for brake-by-wire systems, and a 70 million euro loan to Studenac for further business expansion.

The EBRD has also supported the development of private equity funds across not only Croatia but the wider region through investments in Provectus SEE Fund II, ALFI Private Equity Fund III and Booster Capital Fund. Commenting on the results achieved, Miljan Ždrale, EBRD Regional Director for Central Europe, said that the 287.4 million euro investment in Croatia’s private sector throughout 2025 demonstrates the EBRD’s strong confidence in the Croatian economy and its private sector.

“This has been a year of innovation, from the very first major battery energy storage project to record capital market activity. We’re extremely proud to be able to closely collaborate with forward-looking partners in Croatia and to contribute to reforms that strengthen competitiveness, accelerate the green transition and increase long-term resilience. On that same line, in 2026, we’re planning to expand our support to yet more new projects that will open up even more opportunities for sustainable growth,” concluded Ždrale.
