The fire has caught one home and several explosions have been heard.
A big fire broke out in Zaton Obrovački earlier today, Index reports on August 14, 2017. Six Canadairs are helping the firefighters, but a strong Bura wind is making the job difficult for them.
Index reports that the several homes are in danger, and electricity has been shut off in the area. Eight people have been evacuated from their homes in the village of Modići out of safety precautions and villagers have reported that they had heard landmine explosions.
Grgo Šoše, DVD Obrovac Fire Chief confirmed that a strong Bura wind is making his team’s job difficult, and fire fighting teams from Gračac, Benkovac, Obrovac, and Jasenice are out on the field, as well as six Canadairs.
“The area’s HEP director told me that the fire reached one home. There are one hundred people there, and the area burns very quickly,” Chief Šoše said.
According to HAK, a section of the DC54 state road, Maslenica-Zaton Obrovački, has been closed off due to fire.
