November the 6th, 2025 – There will be free train transport to Vukovar for all those attending the funeral of Jean-Michel Nicolier, scheduled for 13:00 today at Vukovar Memorial Cemetery (Memorijalno groblje Vukovar).
As Jutarnji list writes, brave French Vukovar defender Jean-Michel Nicolier will finally be laid to rest today, after spending 34 years lying in an unmarked mass grave not far from Vukovar.
Large crowds are naturally expected to be heading to Vukovar today, and thousands of people could end up being present at the funeral of Jean-Michel Nicolier, the young man who was born a Frenchman but certainly died a Croat.
Croatian Railways has therefore announced that today (November the 6th) as well as on November the 18th, when the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja are marked, train travel to Vukovar station, as well as the return in the other direction, will be free for all who want to be present in Vukovar.
“On the occasion of the bidding of the final farewell of Vukovar defender Jean-Michel Nicolier on November the 6th, 2025, and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Homeland War and the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Vukovar and Škabrnja on November the 18th, HŽ Passenger Transport will provide people with free train travel from all stations and stops across all of Croatia to Vukovar station and vice versa,” HŽ announced.
