Things will start to cool down soon…
The fierce heat wave which has taken over whole Croatia should end next week. The State Meteorological and Hydrological Service said that its forecast shows there are indications that after the Assumption Day (August 15) the temperatures will cool down a bit because of the penetration of mostly moist and fresh air, so rain is expected. However, high temperatures will last until Saturday, reports Vecernji List on August 9. 2015.
The forecast shows that in inland Dalmatia, Gorski Kotar and Lika there will be local showers with thunderstorms, which will later in the week expand to the rest of Croatia as well. Through Saturday, maximum air temperatures will be between 31 and 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperatures will be in the range between 16 and 21 degrees, and between 20 and 25 degrees on the Adriatic coast. On Monday and Tuesday, a south-westerly wind will star blowing on the Adriatic, which will lower the temperatures below 35 degrees.
Very high risk of heat wave, which exists today for the towns on the coast, will be lowered starting Monday. The somewhat lower temperatures will bring more pleasurable weather to the entire country. Today, the warmest cities in Croatia were Senj, Knin, Mljet and Mali Lošinj with 37 degrees, while the lowest temperatures were recorded in Zavižan on the Velebit mountain with 22 degrees.
