Hvar Bogdanuša and Plavac Mali Cera Presented in Zagreb

The Ivan Carić family farm from Svirče on Hvar Island presented, for the first time beyond the island, their magical wines in Zagreb, at an informal gathering in Red Red wine bar.

As they are a young winery, these are their first wines on the market: Bogdanuša 2016, Plavac Mali Cera 2015 and Plavac Mali Cera barrique 2015. Cera is not a family nickname, but one of the names for the red colour present in this Plavac from the famous viticulture position Ivan Dolac.

The indigenous Hvar Bogdanuša had, as young winemaker Ivan Carić said, its best year to date, and was preserved as such in the bottles.

It is refreshing and light, ready for the hot summer on Hvar, where it will be available, due to limited quantities, mostly in local restaurants and konobas. Bogdanuša was, just like Plavac Mali, produced by the Carić family before, but ‘the old way.’

The family wine tradition began with grandfather Ivan, continued by his son Sandro and taken forward by young Ivan, turning to modern technology.

Thus Bogdanuša shows a large improvement, as it is finely rounded (although a bit stronger with 12.1 percent alcohols), but without any tartness and with completely preserved variety attributes.

Plavac Mali Cera 2015 and its barrique version could spend more time in barrels, but in that case we would be denied tasting these wonderful wines, chewing their tannins and enjoying the mild dizziness from 15.3% alcohols.
