Island Life: Tkon and Pašman Make Good Use of EU Funds

Lauren Simmonds

Good news for two island communities in the Zadar region.

Access to European Union funds is just one of the many benefits of EU membership, and with Croatia’s many islands managing to successfully get just as big of a slice of that cake as mainland tourist destinations, it seems that idyllic paradise islands dotted along Zadar’s coast will be able to raise their competitiveness just as much as bigger destinations.

As eZadar writes on the 24th of May, 2018, the Municpality of Tkon on the island of Pašman in the Zadar region has been granted 300,000 kuna in order to finance the renovation of the walkway in Ugrinic, while the Municpality of Pašman has been granted a further 120,000 kuna for the construction of a modern multimedia building.

The Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds, Gabrijela Žalac, signed a assive 264 contracts worth 57 million kuna alongside numerous representatives of local and regional self-government for the co-financing of project-technical documentation for local EU development projects.

In Zadar County, as many as 17 projects will be financed, for which 2.5 million kuna has already been allocated, including the aforementioned projects on two local island municipalities – Tkon and Pašman.
