April the 26th, 2025 – ISTRIAoilFEST is set to showcase the health benefits of olive oil through a cross border programme between Croatia and neighbouring Slovenia.

As Glas Istre/The Voice of Istria writes, the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism from Poreč is participating in another international project within the Interreg Slovenia – Croatia programme.

The project is called ISTRIAoilFEST (Feel the health, heritage and nature through the experience of Istrian olive oil – sustainable connections for a “green” future), and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. In addition to the Institute, the project also involves the Terra Centuria Cooperative from Slovenia as the lead partner and the Olea Olive Growers Association of Istria County from Tar.

The aim of the ISTRIAoilFEST project is to strengthen Croatian-Slovenian cross-border cooperation and connect communities on both sides of the border through the promotion of Istria’s famous olive oil. As part of the scope of these activities, two large cross-border events are planned that will combine olive oil tasting, education on organic olive growing and interactive content for all generations.

On April the 17th, a kick-off meeting of the project was held in Dekani (across the border in Slovenia), in which all of the ISTRIAoilFEST project partners participated. At the meeting, the project’s activities were presented and initial ideas related to the organisation of events in both Slovenia and Croatia were exchanged.
