November the 28th, 2023 – The famous Josip Jelačić Square Christmas tree is firmly in place in the very heart of Zagreb once again as Advent draws ever closer.
Advent in Zagreb, which was declared Europe’s Best Christmas Market for three consecutive years (in 2016, 2017 and 2018), is gearing up to begin again this year.
One huge sign that the smell of sausages and fritule (Croatian dough balls) is set to take to the capital’s foggy streets once again is the placing of the enormous Christmas tree.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, on Monday morning, workers were seen merrily installing the beautiful Christmas tree in the capital’s main square, and all of the necessary decorations are now to follow.
From oversized candy canes to the famous giant licitar hearts, once the tree is adorned with its festive “attire”, everything else across the city will be made officially ready for the beginning of 2023’s Advent in Zagreb.
Naturally, the giant Josip Jelačić Square Christmas tree is one of the main attractions for taking photos every year, and there’s no doubt that it won’t fulfil the same role over the upcoming festive period.
While the tree and the award winning Advent in Zagreb are both very obvious draws over the festive period, there are plenty of reasons to come and visit Zagreb during the winter. If you need some inspiration, just click here.
