January the 16th, 2025 – Former president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is set to come to the inauguration of Zoran Milanović as the new (yet also former) Croatian President.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, former president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović recently confirmed to N1 that she will attend the inauguration of President Zoran Milanović. She briefly said when asked while abroad: “That’s my duty.”
“So help me God,” will be the final words of the oath of Zoran Milanović, the elected new-old Croatian president who triumphed in Sunday’s elections with 74.5 percent of voter support, at the inauguration expected in mid-February. Given that his term expires on February the 19th, the ceremony must be held no later than the day before, that is, February the 18th. The Office of the President has also since confirmed that the details are still being agreed upon.
“We’re going to arrange everything related to the inauguration of President Zoran Milanović in the coming days and we’ll then inform the public when the details are agreed upon,” they reported.
According to the law, President Zoran Milanović will take a solemn oath “by which he will pledge loyalty to the Croatian Constitution” before the President of the Constitutional Court. Rather ironically, that means that he will take the oath before Miroslav Šeparović, the same court president who deemed his actions in the parliamentary elections unconstitutional and who ordered him not to be an official candidate for the Rijeke Pravde (Rivers of Justice) party, as reported by Večernji list.
