The Dubrovnik born PR expert has been appointed as Plenković’s adviser.
As Jutarnji writes on the 29th of December, 2017, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has officially appointed PR expert Krešimir Macan as his special advisor on strategic communication, starting from the 1st of January next year, as was announced on Friday from Banski dvori.
Macan will not be in constant employment in the government, but according to Plenković, he will engage in his work as and when it is required of him.
Pursuant to the provision of Article 23, paragraph 5 of the Law on the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Krešimir Macan has been granted a wage of 9,000 kuna net monthly, according to the government’s announcement.
Appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Government, more specifically Article 23, which states that for the purpose of developing strategic development plans and analyses, preparing proposals and harmonising the implementation of certain projects of the Government program, and for certain issues of a permanent or of a temporary significant nature, the Prime Minister may appoint special advisers.
Krešimir Macan is also the founder of the PR agency “Manjgura” which specialises in crisis communication, as well as strategic communication in politics and on social media. During his career, Macan has worked at the then Ministry of Information during the Homeland War in the 1990’s, was adviser to Prime Minister Ivica Racan and an HRT (Croatian Radio Television) spokesman, and ran pre-election campaigns for numerous Croatian politicians. He was born on February the 15th, 1970, in Dubrovnik.
His appointment took place after the Croatian government recently abolished the 2012 decision, which, for state administration bodies, legal entities with public powers and other legal entities established by the state, as well as certain companies, prohibited the engagement of PR experts and/or companies.
