June the 23rd, 2025 – The island of Krk has been nominated for the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 as one of the most desirable islands in Europe.
As Novi list/Mladen Trinajstic writes, beautiful Krk has entered the shortlist for one of the most prestigious awards in the global tourism industry — the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025. As presented recently by representatives of the Krk Tourist Board, the island has been nominated in the category of the most desirable European islands, or Most Desirable Island(s) in Europe.
The Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards are otherwise one of the longest-running and most relevant awards in tourism. They’ve been organised for 24 years by the respected British magazine Wanderlust, a leading authority in the field of authentic, sustainable and culturally rich travel.
These awards are particularly significant because the winners are decided exclusively by the travellers themselves — the magazine’s readers and the wider travel community. The fact that Krk has been nominated by the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 is an enormous push into the spotlight for the island with no vowels, but plenty to boast about.
Last year’s edition saw more than 168,000 voters participate, casting as many as 3.5 million votes. This year it is expected that huge numbers of travellers from all over the world will once again decide on the best among the nominees. This makes the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards one of the largest and most representative consumer travel awards in Europe and the world.
It’s worth noting that the Wanderlust magazine was launched way back in 1993 and has been dedicated to inspiring travellers around the world. It aids them in discovering all kinds of destinations, from the authentic to the lesser-known, all the way to popular and sustainable destinations. Their mission is to promote responsible tourism, rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and excellent gastronomy through quality journalism, stunning photography and advice from top travel experts.
The award ceremony will be held on November the 5th at the National Gallery in London, one of the world’s most famous museums. It will be held in the presence of leading global leaders in tourism, representatives of the awarded destinations, celebrity guests and plenty of international media.
The nomination for Krk for the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 is yet more recognition and confirmation of the long-term work of all stakeholders in the tourism offer of the island. It also showcases just how much love there is for this Croatian destination among its loyal visitors from all over the world.
