If you do not have time to come to the cemetery yourself, you can ask someone else to light a candle for your loved ones.
Varaždin cemetery has presented the VaraždinCemetery mobile phone app, which is intended for tourists, citizens and anybody else who might be interested in the Varaždin town cemetery. The app offers to its users thematically designed tours of the cemetery and locations of most interesting points of interest within the cemetery, such as the graves of famous inhabitants of the town, reports Večernji List on April 6, 2017.
The app also offers useful service information about schedules for funerals, and with the help of a search engine you can find the location of individual graves. “Through this mobile app, you can also order masonry services and services of planting, maintenance and decoration of graves and tombs with seasonal flowers,” said a representative of the Parkovi municipal company, which developed the app together with EONIdeas from Varaždin.
“Among other possibilities, the app allows someone from Split or Osijek to order cleaning of the grave of their grandmother or grandfather, without having to actually come to Varaždin. They will get a photo of how the grave looks like after the cleaning is done. They can also order the service of lighting candles,” said Teodor Hirš from the Varaždin-based company.
He noted that, according to their information, there was no similar app in Europe. VaraždinCemetery is an app for smart phones based on iOS and Android platforms. It is free for users, and can be downloaded on the website of Parkovi company, via a QR code at the information booth at the town cemetery, or through AppStore and Google Play.
CEO of Parkovi Marin Bašić said that this was just the first version which will be further upgraded. The Varaždin town cemetery participates in the international tourism project European Cemeteries Route. They have already put into operation a search engine for individual graves and have placed info points at the cemetery, and now the app is another idea which will “improve customer satisfaction for users of cemetery.”
