As Morski writes, the Split company “Pakleni otoci” d.o.o. will build a vessel for the aforementioned needs of the Zlarin Coral Centre worth (including VAT) 2.56 million kuna in total. The contract on the design and construction of the twelve-metre-long and six-meter-wide vessel was signed recently by Zeljko Buric, the Mayor of Sibenik, and Luka Colnago, the director of the company engaged in the vessel’s construction.

”The islands need facilities that will open more new perspectives in tourism, but primarily in terms of development. Coral farming has left an indelible mark on Zlarin and we want to show that, which will be contributed by the boat commissioned by the City of Sibenik for the Zlarin Coral Centre,” explained Sibenik Mayor Zeljko Buric, adding that the entire project is being implemented with more than satisfactory dynamics.

The catamaran-type vessel will be made of aluminum alloys and is intended for the transport of twelve passengers and two crew members.

”It will contain a space for transporting and handling a remote-controlled submarine (ROV) for the purpose of implementing measures to monitor target species and habitats below the surface of the sea, and a screen for displaying the submarine’s activity. The boat will be used both in summer and in winter conditions, and people with disabilities will be able to use it for transport.

It will be used to transport researchers and scientists, and will be intended for the implementation of interpretation and educational programmes for children, youth and even the organisation of tourist tours,” noted Petar Misura, head of the Administrative Department for Economy, Entrepreneurship and Development.

Luka Colnago, the director of Pakleni otoci d.o.o. said the work would begin immediately in order to meet the product delivery deadline of nine months.

It’s worth mentioning that the total value of the Zlarin Coral Centre project stands at 24,127,147.50 kuna. The project involves several administrative bodies and is being co-financed by the European Union under the “Competitiveness and Cohesion Operational Programme for 2014-2020.
